Dose of Beauty Wednesday

Hello! My name is Dannette and I am a make-up junkie. JUNKIE. Love beauty products of all kinds...especially if they are lux...I can talk shop with a Sephora girl and leave with a new friend.

If you are anything like me, you must go and sign up at Birchbox if you haven't already. It's $10 a month and you get this incredibly sturdy and cute little box (great for wrapping small Christmas presents in!) filled with surprise goodies. They tailor the goodies to the info you provide about your beauty needs. Nobody seems to get the same exact things which makes it even more fun! Afterwards you can go and buy your favorite things on their site and rack up points for $$ towards future orders. You can also get points for leaving reviews of the products you've tried.

In October Birchbox partnered with GOOP! I was so excited when I saw this little equation on the side I got a paper cut trying to open the box.

Filled with GOOP's fave recommendations!
This is the cute little sturdy box you receive. So perfect for disguising a 3DS game at Christmas!

Aaahhhh look at the cute tissue paper! Everything is always so beautifully packaged. You can honestly feel the love.

Looky there...a gift inside of a gift!

Why yes that is a full size $8 bottle of Essie nail polish! In a very trendy fall color I might add. I also received Kiel's Rosa Arctica Eye Cream, Supergoop! Sunscreen, Jouer Lip Enhancer, and a Lemon Zest Luna Bar!
Luckily I had received these FABULOUS Cynthia Rowley Band-Aids in a previous Birchbox so I could fix that paper cut. I find myself looking for boo boos to put these babies on.

So of course all of those deluxe samples got me in the mood for some full size treats, so I made a little hop over to Sephora. Ever since I bought the Urban Decay Naked palette, I've been looking everywhere for a matte palette. Shimmers just don't suit me. Maybe as an accent, but not for full on every day. Kind of an expensive mistake, but it's still worth keeping when I need to get a little more glam.

I was drawn to this Stila "In the Know" palette in...the packaging alone put me in a trance.
Are these perfect colors or what? It even came with a great eyeliner & a little look book that was really easy to follow. I have barely started to dabble with these and I'm already hooked. See that Orange-y color? Looks scary but it's so awesome on. It makes me wish I had brown eyes because I bet it would look amazeballs on a dark beauty.
OK moving on to a product that I can not find in Sephora anymore...:(

A package from Greece? For me?? What could it be??
Oh well only the best moisturizer this dry faced gal has ever used. They stopped carrying my beloved Korres Watercress in the US a few years ago so I found a girl on Ebay to send me some. Cost me a pretty penny but so worth it. I wish they made the smell in to a soap because it's so clean and fresh and not offensive to my sensitive head. I only use this at night, like a night cream as it is very thick. It soaks up overnight and I wake up feeling dewy. So glad I reunited with my beloved!
It's not for has potent in the name for a reason.
So I hope you don't mind me sharing some of my fave things with you today! It's Wednesday! Do something to make yourself feel good today. Don't we all want to be a little prettier?? :)

Menu Plan Monday

This is my new metal dry erase board that I used command strips to hang on my fridge. I didn't think anyone was really paying attention to it until one day I changed the menu for the day and they said, "hey! I thought we were having breakfast!" now I know that they take my board as the truth and they get their little minds and mouths set for the day. Which is GOOD. :)

Happy Meal Planning! Need some idears? Go to for some inspiration!

Oh and I almost forgot to mention...the index cards hanging below there are the kid's chores for the day. Oh how they love those. :)

Halloween 2012!

Ok so I'm a little late posting these. We are all over Halloween and moving on to the holidays. I'm sure you've realized by now this mom is always a bit behind. :)

My older girls are not trick or treating anymore, but I still have Quinn! This year she wanted to be the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland. I found a great costume online and tweaked it to not only make it a little cuter, but warmer.

Meredith was with her mom this Halloween, so Sayler had to hand candy out by herself. We went to my sister-in-law's house because her neighborhood is a nicer walk with more lights on. What is with all of the Halloween Scrooges out there??

Sayler went ahead and wore her Sailor Moon T-shirt and did her pose for fun. She still has it in her!

Sayler's little Pikachu pumpkin...I love how she cut out the little cheeks so they would glow. So clever & cute!

Quinn & Sayler's pumpkins (Sayler's was double sided)...I think I caught an aura! ;)

Quinn doing her "off with their head!" look. I bought one of those $1.00 tubes of red makeup from Target and used a lip brush to apply. All those years of doodling hearts finally paid off.

I bought one of those $5 long sleeve shirts at Target in red, and some of the Disney leggings that looked like they had leather on the front. This costume actually came with a white pair of leggings with little hearts down the side but I needed a warmer option. It ended up cuter than I had planned. She was so happy and loved her makeup so much she fought me on washing it off that night.

One of my good mommy days. :)

Just for fun, this was Quinn in her Katy Perry costume last year. This is my payback for being a lifelong Madonna fan.

I hope you all had a fabulous Halloween! Let's go BLACK FRIDAY!

Prize Finds

Hello! How have ya'll been? I know I've been gone for a while and I apologize for that. I was in my little cocoon I go in sometimes...I've emerged and I'm ready to flutter around a bit.

Me. Cocoon-ing.

With the weather getting a little cooler we are coming to the end of one of my favorite seasons...garage sale season! I love to garage sale and thrift. So much that it started to be sort of a problem. I had trouble leaving a "prize find", as I would call it, behind. I figured if I couldn't use it I sure knew someone else that could. Or there are those things that you think you will use, upcycle, re-paint, etc., only to end up back in my "to Goodwill" basket.

I did come up with a nice solution for this thanks to Instagram. I find that if I take a picture of the "prize find" that is not necessary in my life, I snap a little picture of it and post it, it gives me the same satisfaction somehow.

Like these really cool glasses. I have kind of a glass obsession.
Or this cute little print that was still in the package. Kissin' Don't Last-Cookin' Do.
Once I add the filter to make it look a little cooler and post it I feel creatively satisfied. Try it! It'll not only save you some money, but it will save you a lot of space in your house. I'm sortakinda a hoarder. No flat dead cats anywhere yet.
I'm going to share a few of the things that I have found lately. Since it's one of my fave things in the world to do, why not incorporate it in to my blog.
These are on the top of my list of fave finds. From the 70's!
Didn't we all own these when we were little?
I know, right??
I am a huge Simpsons fan and I got this near mint Homer for 25 cents! He's going on my desk at work to keep me happy.
Found this awesome leather checkbook cover at a garage sale for 50 cents.
Not a fan of pictures of myself, which is why this one is so far away and heavily filtered. But I bought this lightweight yellow Banana Republic hooded cardy from Goodwill. Perfect for church!
Back view.
The sleeve which I love. I'm kind of obsessed with sleeve landing.
So there you have it. I am soooo much better about not buying everything in sight.
I think this will be a regular feature in my blog...what I found/bought. :)
Have a wonderful weekend!
